These changes will influence everything from the nature of entertainment to the basic structure of firms and markets. This session will examine how our emerging on-demand society will change business and daily life.

:: Scott A. Golder
   Research Scientist
   Hewlett Packard Laboratories

Scott A. Golder is a research scientist in the Information Dynamics Lab at Hewlett Packard Laboratories. He studies online communities, social networks and collaborative systems. His previous and ongoing work include studies of email networks, internet gambling, discussion forums and collaborative information organization. In particular, Scott performed among the first quantitative analyses of social networking site Facebook and social bookmarking service del.icio.us. He is interested in bringing to the enterprise the open principles that have revolutionized the web, and designing tools and technologies that support collboration free from the barriers imposed by traditional organizational structures. Before joining HP Labs, Scott was a graduate student at the MIT Media Laboratory.

Chris Meyer is chief executive of Monitor Networks, a unit of the Monitor Group focused on fostering business innovation through designing, growing, and learning from human networks. Mr. Meyer writes and speaks about the trends shaping business and economic developments. His most recent book is It's Alive: The Coming Convergence of Information, Biology, and Business (co-authored with Stan Davis). He also co-authored the best-selling Blur: The Speed of Change in the Connected Economy and Future Wealth (with Stan Davis), and he has contributed to the Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, Fast Company, Time, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, and Business 2.0. Mr. Meyer's recent research and consulting have focused on the development of the Adaptive Enterprise, helping companies create the capacity to sense, respond to, and adapt to changes in their business environments.

   VP and Global Leader of Business Strategy Consulting Practice; Leader of the IBM Institute for Business Value

George Pohle is the global leader of IBM's Institute for Business Value and the Global leader of the Business Strategy Practice in Global Business Services, with over 20 years of consulting and line management experience.

The Institute for Business Value is a world-wide group of consultants that creates practical thought leadership on industry-specific and cross-functional issues, target at C-level business executives. Previously, his work focused on driving the strategy, thought leadership and external marketing efforts for IBM's on demand strategy.

Prior to that, Mr. Pohle lead the Communications Sector's Strategy consulting practice, serving the Telecommunications, media and entertainment and utilities industries. There he partnered with senior business executives on operational and strategic issues, covering innovation, growth, and operations optimization.

Mr. Pohle came to IBM in 2001 when IBM acquired Mainspring, a strategy consulting boutique. There, in October 1999, he founded the Communications and Media Strategy practice creating a vibrant practice and attracted a world-class team of consultants that rapidly built relationships with numerous Fortune 500 companies in the telecommunications and media & entertainment industries.

He joined IBM/Mainspring from Lucent Technologies where he led strategy and business development groups for Lucent's Enterprise business unit.

Prior to Lucent, Mr. Pohle worked at Gemini Consulting/The MAC Group as the leader of the U.S. strategy practice. At Gemini, he built functional expertise in growth strategy, business valuation, product development, and turnaround programs with numerous global clients.

He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from INSEAD (Institut Europeen d'Administration des Affaires) in Fontainebleau, France and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University.
